Fashion Illustration

This class is for students who love fashion! Students will learn to draw fabric and clothes from life. Students will draw & model for each other wearing a variety of clothes. We’ll learn how to do quick sketches & basic human proportions. We’ll draw from fashion magazines and design and make sketches of fashion ideas at the end of class. Students may be asked to bring in favorite clothing items. All art materials provided. Ages 8 & up. Child: $130 ~ Parent & Child: $210
SNITZEL CLASS INFORMATION
Fabric Collage
This is a class about breaking out and doing “your” work in the medium of fabric collage. The format is small, and the rules are few. It’s exhilarating!
It is a 10 month class (once monthly) designed to provide a supportive, on-going, collective community of individuals who are interested in exploring their own creative process.
We’ll meet in an informal environment where sharing is encouraged. Basic sewing skills are helpful, but not necessary (fusing is an option to sewing). No sewing machines are required in class. If you have a machine it does not need to be fancy. Class time will be used to explore design exercises, share, and critique. At the end of every class the participants will be given a design problem to solve and return with the solution interpreted in a fabric composition to the next class. The class is fluid and there is no requirement for “x number” of completed works. It is about finding and exercising your creative voice at a speed that suits you.
We will be exploring the elements and principles of design interpreted in fiber. Included in this exploration will be learning about surface embellishments i.e. beading, thread work, fabric manipulation, painting, using resists, and much more. Each participant will be asked to keep a note book of their work and learning as we go. We will discuss how to build a palette of color in your fabric/thread/bead stash, and how to shop for what you need. You will use your own materials, but participants are encouraged to share resources with each other.

Diorama Cards

Botanical Illustration

Students will create Flower Journals with drawings of many different flowers. We will use colored pencil, pen & ink and watercolor to draw wild flowers, cut flowers and flowers from our gardens. We will also go on a nature walk around Gilman Village drawing flowers as we go. All art materials provided. Ages 8 & up. Child: $85~ Parent & Child: $135
Personalized Journals

Chainmaille Earring Trio

Earrings make great gifts for friends or for yourself! In this two hour workshop you'll make 3 unique pairs of earrings using different chainmaille weaves. Chainmaille is fun, stylish and not just for suits of armor! Materials include sterling silver, gold, titanium, enameled (colored) copper, and more. No previous experience needed.

Luscious Lotion & Lip Balm

Ever wonder if you could make your own body butter & lip balm without all the chemicals of the commercial brands? You can, and it’s fun! In this 2 ½ hr workshop, you'll create your very own lotion, lotion bar, body butter, and lip balm. We’ll use natural ingredients like beeswax, jojoba and hazelnut oils, shea, coffee, and mango butters, essential oils, and more. Ages 12 and up. $45 includes all materials.
Watercolor Basics

This is a continuation of the "Intro to Watercolors" class. We will work on completing some finished watercolor paintings while practicing color mixing and painting techniques. No experience necessary. This is a 4 week class. All art materials provided. Great for beginners age 6 and up. Max. class size is 8 to allow for hands on instruction so sign up early!

Intro to Watercolors

Learn introductory watercolor techniques! We will practice mixing colors, learn how to do a watercolor "wash," and learn some fun wet blend tricks and textures. We will also learn how to take care of our paints and brushes. No experience

Blooming Box

It looks like a regular box, but when you take the lid off there is a surprise! It turns into a 3-D layered scrapbook, where you can add plenty of photographs & special messages. Boxes are created with cardstock, patterned paper, stamps and accessories. These are a fun way to remember a special event, trip or as a gift! Class Fee: $20 (covers all materials!) Ages 12 to adult.
Spa Gift Baskets

A unique opportunity to create a fabulous spa basket for yourself or to gift. In this 4hr class we’ll make bath bombs & salts, honey salt scrub, tub truffles (solid bath oils– so yummy!), hand cream and body butter. We’ll use natural ingredients and custom scent each one. We’ll package it all in a beautiful basket, wrap in cellophane and finish it off with a bow! You’ll also receive recipes so you can make more at home! Ages 12 and up. $75 includes all materials (retail value exceeds $100!).
Fan Top Origami Fabric Box

In this 2 hr make and take workshop you’ll learn the method for stiffening your own fabric, how to use ancient origami techniques to fold units for a lid and base, and how to assemble the box in several ways to achieve different patterns. Please bring a folding tool to protect your fingers (a bone folder or a teaspoon work well). When you register please specify your color preference: brights, pastels, or blues. Olivia Chainmaille Bracelet

You’ve seen the classic Byzantine chainmaille weave, but you'd like a more challenging and intricate design? In this 3 hour class, you'll make and take home an Olivia bracelet; based on Byzantine but very different. We’ll use Swarovski crystals as an accent, so you'll learn basic wire-wrapping techniques as well as chainmaille! Crystals offered in five jewel colors; please indicate if you'd like amethyst, sapphire, ruby, topaz or emerald. Ages 16 & up. $75 includes all materials and tools.
